RHEUMATOLOGY CONSULT

& FOLLOW-UP CARE

One...

The initial consult consists of a comprehensive history and physical exam. We also review your child's nutrition patterns, exercise, sleep, stress, emotional/self-regulation abilities, and social support. Laboratory collection may be done in the office. Orders for appropriate imaging, medications, and referrals are placed. This visit typically takes an hour and a half.

Two...

An individualized plan of care is crafted after Dr. Singla and patient/parent(s) discuss treatment goals. The care plan will include conventional and complementary approaches such as medications, diet modification, supplements if needed, sleep habits, mind-body strategies, and exercise/therapy suggestions. Trying to address each one of these approaches can be overwhelming, so we will focus on one or two goals after the initial consult. The plan of care will be re-evaluated during follow-up visits where goals can be changed or readdressed.

Three

The first follow-up visit is scheduled based on the child's diagnosis and needs. For traditional rheumatologic conditions, this is typically every 3-4 months. Follow-up visits consist of a thorough review of labs and/or imaging studies, and the initial care plan as well as through exam. Visits are typically 45 minutes to 1 hour. Dr. Singla continues to monitor your child's progress and adjusts overall goals and plan of care. If your child is on immunosuppression medication, laboratory testing is done in the office to monitor for medication side effects.

NON-RHEUMATOLOGY INTEGRATIVE CONSULTS

& FOLLOW-UP CARE

One...

The initial consult consists of a comprehensive history and physical exam. We also review your child's nutrition patterns, exercise, sleep, stress, emotional/self-regulation abilities, and social support. Laboratory collection may be done in the office. Orders for appropriate imaging, medications, and referrals are placed. This visit typically takes an hour and a half.

Two...

Like the pediatric rheumatology consult, an individualized plan of care is crafted after a discussion of treatment goals between Dr. Singla and patient/parent. Management of diseases outside of rheumatology will be directed by the child's primary care doctor and/or subspecialist. Discussion of integrative care with Dr. Singla will focus on complementary approaches to address the primary complaint such as diet modification, supplements if needed, sleep habits, mind-body strategies, and exercise/therapy suggestions. Trying to address each one of these approaches can be overwhelming, so we will focus on one or two goals after the initial consult. The plan of care will be re-evaluated during follow-up visits where goals can be readdressed or changed.

Three

The first follow-up visit (if needed) is typically scheduled 3-4 months after the initial consult and consists of a detailed review of recent labs and/or imaging studies, a thorough physical exam, and assessment of progress with the initial care plan.
